Sultan bin Salman Al Saud
Sultan bin Salman Al Saud is a Saudi Arabian prince, pilot, and astronaut. He is the second son of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the first Arab and Muslim to travel into space.
Sultan was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on June 27, 1956. He received his elementary and secondary education in Riyadh, and then went on to study mass communications at the University of Denver in the United States. He later earned a master's degree in social and political science from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.
Sultan began his career as a pilot in the Royal Saudi Air Force. He later became a commercial pilot and flew for Saudi Arabian Airlines. In 1985, he was selected by NASA to be the first Arab and Muslim astronaut.
